Hi everyone. I've just joined the forum, so am adding this note as requested. My name is Vikki, and I have recently adopted an 8 year old Lurcher called Sunny. He has a lovely nature and is very quiet and gentle (I've only heard him bark 4 times). He is great around people, but nervous around other dogs - from the history we have he never had much interaction with other dogs (or animals). He has arthritis in his back hips, and I am still trying to find the balance between too much and too little exercise for him - if he had his own way he would just lie in bed all day
I found the forum when I was doing some web searches on local groups, as I'd be interested in both a little more training for me, and dog company for him. |

Hiya Vicki - welcome to you & Sunny! I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here - the place is packed with really friendly dog lovers an I'm sure you'll get all the help you need.
I would try taking Sunny on short walks say 15-30 minutes gentle strolling a couple of times a day and see how he copes with that - he'll sharp let you know if it's too much Such a shame he has hip problems - have you thought about trying a Magnetic or BioFlow collar? They're supposed to work wonders for dogs with arthritis/hip problems - a couple of the ladies on my forum swear by them and I know John does too - his Diesel has hip problems and the collars have greatly eased that for him _________________ Staffies are my life!
