hi there, i'm Kerry and have 2 mad but lovable huskys. Always had a soft spot for mals, and shadow looks stunning, is he more a short haired mal? _________________ We are forever responsible for what we have tamed |

Shadow has a proper coat..most mals are coated like him in the summer _________________

Thanks, for the welcome, Shadow did have his winter coat I think up until may. I was told when it came off it was like a number of dogs had been sheared.

Kerry..I am sure you will have seen pics on here of Cruiser..he is a long coated Mal..this is considered an incorrect coat..it is a throwback gene that can pop up anywhere..However..since his conception there has been a test developed to test breeding "stock" for the long coat gene..there fore you can now breed from carriers to non carriers and produce no long coats..
Another step in the right direction for the good of the breed..good breeders will now include this test as a matter of course..
Charlie..a shedding malamute is like NOTHING else..(well except maybe a Samoyed!!)
Its shed loads..every day..you can brush forever and they still look the same..LOL _________________

Thanks, I was advised, when shedding to wear a water proof outfit and just brush. But I have read in a forum about blasters.
Every one has made us very welcome, we are thinking about attending a Cumbernauld Dog Training session at some stage. |
