Im going to vets today with Scooby, having an emerg. appt for 11am today

I think his time is near Crying or Very sad

He hasnt moved since yesterday afternoon, coughing a real hacking cough and sounds as if his lungs are full, has not eaten at all yesterday

I had to syringe some sugary water to him last nigh, but at 1am he got up and had a drink himself, tho I had to hold water up to him, but at least he had moved, but hasnt moved since

He will be 15 in Jan

Scooby's famous false alarm Rolling Eyes Very Happy well he is still sick, but not quite away yet

it seems his heart has a murmur now and thats also what is causing the fluid in his lungs, tho he could have a chest infection but our vet thinks its mostly his heart as his temperature isnt too high which it would be if it was infection.
He has heart tablets and diuretic (Frusemide) and got some wee jabs to speed it all up

We carried him out to the car, 1/2 way to vets he started squirming then peed, god only knows how he missed Allan, tho it was all up the dash on the car Rolling Eyes (it has been scrubbed now, honest ) Very Happy anyway I stopped and we got him out the car, where he procedded to pull me towards the grass, actually almost trotting Laughing then peed some (lots) more

The vet had a laugh that we are carrying him about and there he is trotting into the vets office as an emergency case Laughing

He has gone quiet again tonight, but ate a wee bit of food to get his tablets in and we will see how he goes for now Smile

The worst thing about owning a pet is when they get ill and old:(

Yip, Steve and its something we all have to do and we all each just know when the time it is
I will not let him suffer, but as long as I know he is ok and not suffering in anyway then we fight with him through anyhing he gets

Scooby was was born with a muscle wastage disease so has no muscle on top of his head which makes it look sunken in, he has always been a wee pathetic looking boy, but as hard as nails at times

We got him from a greyhound trainer in '03 and from '06 has has had a couple of wee things that you can really only call a type of stroke, where he has lost balance and just not been right and each time we say this looks like his time, he then fights through it after looking like deaths door.

He has had various anal gland infections, kennel coughs, ear problems and pulls himself through them all

hopefully he will do it again and see his 15th birthday in January

We are up and down just now, he is good then he isnt so good, he is def. better but we will take each day at a time Smile

He had a blood test today to check his liver and kidney function and his kidneys are not good

He is only eating small amounts of tinned dog food, bit rubbish but if he eats it thats fine, doesnt want the dried and doesnt want any raw so if I have to feed him tinned at this stage in the day thats fine we will do it Smile
He has never been very good at eating rice, think its to do with he fact he has awful teeth but I will cook some chicken tomorrow and try that too
