I spoke to Lesley from The Friends of Cumbernauld Park yesterday..news had spread that a large group of dog owners were using the Park/Glen ( two seperate owners!) on a daily basis.

They are delighted that an organised group such as ourselves are using the park so much in fact were were mentioned at their last meeting! Lesley invited me to the next meeting to represent the club and tell them more about our aims and aspirations first hand.....so I will go to the next meeting.

We can have our flyers displayed on all the park notice boards.......I will print off some more on photographic paper and hand them up to her.

Apparently the use of the park by a club helps justify extra funding to upgrade the paths and drainage in the park.

Another good contact Very Happy

That's brilliant John Very Happy

Maybe there is something else we, as a group of dog walkers, could do for the glen.. perhaps by collecting the broken glass / litter on the way.

I know, I know, why should we clear up after the neds.. I'm as big a cynic as they come, believe me.. but I think that it would be a good way to keep the paths safe for our dogs and more pleasant for everyone.

On a similar note.. does anyone on the forum work in education? I think it would be great if we could have someone from the club visit local schools and show kids the danger that broken glass can cause... I'm sure no-one wants to cause pain to a defenseless animal Confused

Stuart I think you have hit on an idea. But our group alone couldn't do it, If we got The friends of the Cumbernnauld park to help along with the other groups and organisations that use the park to hep to it would be a much more successful event.

Great idea,
I would happily pick up glass as we go.

If we do this I will call Lesley to tell her not only do we use the park but we are happy to help out as well!

Well done John - if only they could upgrade something to keep the Neds and their glass and assorted other Ned type tokens under control - we wish...

I'm sure they'd leave pretty quickly! He's quite useful in that regard:-)

I was at a local Lidl one time and about 4 of these lovely young men were kicking a football around in the car park. They took deliberate aim at a foreign lady as she walked across and hit her smack in the face - needless to say she dropped like a stone. They just stood laughing at her and at what they'd done.

I got out of the car and got Oscar out of the back. We walked up towards them all, and I helped the lady stand up. They had by this time gone very quiet, and I asked them if they had anything they wanted to say to her. 'Sorry, sorry, sorry' came the reply as they walked away backwards:-)))

Hopefully, they would think twice before doing something like that again, but I won't hold my breath!

Kind regards
Lynn
