I'm impressed with the first video of you throwing the ball as a distraction. Very good.
However, I don't get the concept in the second one.
Wouldn't you tell the dog to sit and stay, then walk away, turn around, wait a few seconds or however long, then tell your dog to come and finish, either individually, or all of them together? Rather than tell them to sit and stay and call them as you're walking away? Is this a different excercise to what i'm talking about?
Nicola,
the second one is an 'advanced or advancing' recall.......the aim is to recall the dog to 'heel' whilst continuing to move.......we don't have quite enough space to do this in the hall........it can be done hand signal only, voice only or both together. _________________ John Thomson

Right, so you're calling the dogs to heel, after sitting and staying, then about turning and finishing. I see. I just wondered if there was a different thinking in this.

Stuart - fab footage, I am relieved that Dodge and I missed class on Tuesday - the other dogs were behaving impeccably Dodge as yet does not have full concentration in the class though his sit stay and recall are usually not too bad, but walking to heel without his lead is still too much of a challenge for him - he does not seem to grasp the concept.
Was great for everyone to see what we are all aspiring to - thanks
Really enjoyed seeing that. Its interesting to see the dogs when we're not there. I'm impressed that Dale didn't move for the ball.
Well done Stuart. _________________ Janice and Dale
