I bet you wish Koda's breeder could have seen it?
When prey drive like that kicks in nothing else matters to the dog........luckily deer are really fast on their feet and in my experience the dog will quickly realise this and give up when they know they are beaten.......still scary to watch a fast dog take off like that.
Well done Koda for coming back _________________ John Thomson

Otto does it all the time at Dumpellier...always comes back once he realises he's not going to catch it. Or he just tears off nose to the ground.
We have a dog whistle and if he goes too far, couple of blasts on that brings him back in.
It is scary when they first do it though... |

As John said " some dogs know when they are not gonna get said prey" in addition some dogs love the chase but more importantly love being with their owners.
I have a few friends whose dogs relish the chase an hunt, but them said friends carry on with the walk an know that give them dogs afew mins an they will come huffing back, pleased as punch with catching nothing an wanting to be back with their master.
That's not to say you don't get plenty wee buggers who have to be dug out though ..lol
